The Leopard Has Not Changed Its Spots
In 1998 Osama bin Laden issued this fatwa, The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies, civilians and military, is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it. Although US civilians and military were killed prior to 9/11 by means of Osama bin Ladens al-Qaeda organization, few took this threat seriously. But when 9/11 became an al-Qaeda declaration of war, we knew it was real. The Bush administration knew it was war. The Obama administration is not so sure.
Obama has decided to close Gitmo and to try al-Qaeda operatives in US civil courts. Although Islamic jihadists are there because they have been involved in the killing of US civilians and military in wartime, Obama and Holder are convinced they should not be called enemy combatants but merely detainees. President Truman would have been impeached if he had insisted on coddling war criminals in US courts.
The liberal elite now dominating Washington are the same ones who spare no effort to defend criminals while ignoring the rights of victims. If their commander-in-chief will not defend the honor of our war dead in the struggle against al-Qaeda and radical Islam, who will? The lieutenants of Osama bin Laden deserve military tribunals - not US civil courts. Anything less is dishonoring and demoralizing to our military - and to all of us.
If the Obama administration believes the al-Qaeda leopard has changed its spots, it is sadly mistaken.
